MARCH 15, 2010 (HOLBROOK, NEB.)—Up your game and get your product off the sidelines and into the limelight with a 2010 GROW Nebraska Product Evaluation. The event will be help April 22 during the 2010 GROW Nebraska MarkeTech Conference that includes social media and Web site marketing sessions.

Six industry Product Evaluators will be offering their expertise and marketing tips as part of the process. To meet them, go to www.grownebraska.org/producteval  and click on the 2010 Product Evaluators link.

“Entrepreneurs and business owners who want to market and sell products made or designed in Nebraska can gain valuable insight regarding their product’s marketability, pricing and packaging. These products consistently draw the attention of purchasing agents,” said GROW Nebraska CEO, Janell Anderson Ehrke.

Even if you only sell retail, said Ehrke, the evaluation is highly beneficial. Recommendations include ways that products or marketing campaigns can be improved or expanded, and the best local retail outlets for sales. All products are rated on design, creativity, craftsmanship, price and overall impact. The Evaluation is a training service for business owners who want to participate in GROW Nebraska markets or retail events with the goal of increasing their triple bottom line. Producers are not present in the room during the evaluation so that industry experts can candidly assess all products.

You do not need to be in attendance or a GROW Nebraska member to participate. Cost for members is $15 and for non-members, $25.

The registration deadline is April 14. For more information, visit the GROW Nebraska Web site at www.grownebraska.org, call 1-888-GROWNEB (1-888-476-9632) or email info@grownebraska.org

Social Entreprenership at its Best – TOMS

I was filled with excitement as I started my day out early. I slipped on my TOMS shoes, and smiled at the thought of getting to hear one of my favorite entrepreneurs share his story at the Greater Omaha’s Young Professional Summit. I was thrilled when I learned I had been given the opportunity from Partnerships for Innovation to attend this event at the Qwest Center. Three hours later, after my eastward journey, I arrived at the event and was amazed by the large crowd attending the Summit. This event was incredibly organized with breakout sessions that delivered valuable messages, information, and resources to the participants. However, my favorite part of the day was lunch, and not because of the meal, although it was very good. It was because of the key note speaker, Chief Shoe Giver of TOMS Shoes, Blake Mycoski.
