Does your community understand the link between public policies and programs and how to tap into programs for rural development in Nebraska communities?  Interested in federal farm programs, renewable energies and small business development programs for your community? The Southeast Nebraska Resource Network (SERN) invites all community stakeholders, public employees, public officials, and resource providers to attend a free, educational presentation on How to tap into State and Federal Policies and Programs for Rural Development, by Brian Depew from the Center for Rural Affairs.  Mr. Depew will discuss federal farm programs and state and federal renewable energy policies and also federal small business development programs, value added agricultural grants and grant programs for communities.   He’ll share the “ins and outs” of everything including the Nebraska Microenterprise Tax Credit and help participants become educated about the link between public policy and rural communities.

The event will take place in Milligan Nebraska at Evening with Friends Restaurant on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at 12:15 p.m.  Prior to the presentation, a buffet lunch at 11:30 a.m. is optional for participants for the price of $8.95 per person, to be paid at the door.  An RSVP by May 21, 2010 is requested to Patt Lentfer at Fillmore County Development Corporation at 402-759-4970 or by email to lentfer.fcdc@genevamail.com

SERN is a regional group of resource specialists from various organizations/businesses from the Counties of Polk, Butler, Saunders, York, Seward, Lancaster, Cass, Otoe, Fillmore, Saline, Gage, Johnson, Nemaha, Thayer, Jefferson, Pawnee, and Richardson.  Come join us and other attending communities as we share our questions and discussions on tapping into federal and state policies and programs for rural development.
